This job almost became spiritual, it wasn't just about painting a portrait, I wanted to really control the pressure of the paint, really work with the tool rather than just getting the straightest/cleanest line.

Four Arms of Ivory
Yes, I know, almost a month since the last post. It's very whack but I have been working hard. A fruit of my labour is a new Mac Mini which has abled me to extract this image off my battered Nokia via the Bluetooth. I rarely paint with acrylics even though I should do more. But I just love this elephant dude!

JebaX The Bomb in Brighton
I've been meaning to post this for such a long time! Trying to get the files off the missus' camera has been a 3month mission! But anyway back in June I was asked to paint the front of a hair dressers, which I was more than happy to do! The brief was robots, electrics, explosions, comics, cartoons... and well, that's almost like free roam in candy store!!
The main problem was trying to work with the layout of the front, I had to treat it like a frame. I had 1 large panel on top, a smaller panel at the bottom, and thin panels at the side, also a door that had a window in it..so I really had to workaround bends and tie it all in.
The concept took a while to develop, but when the wires got thrown into the mix, that was it! I could make everything tie together..anything with a wire means it can do some electrical/ robotic thing! The pinks and the purple...OH MAN I was happy when I got home with these colours! Hopefully I'll find the colour list and I'll share that with you soon. What really grabs me with aerosol painting is control... everytime you paint you learn something new, you learn new ways to control the can, you find yourself working faster, you find new ways of doing fades, jus generally doing shit and approaching solutions in ways you may have just dreamed about. You learn more about yourself and what the human mind can achieve.

I also did a sandwich board for them. Wires, LCD screens and odd technological aliens that have wires jacked into them.

The Diary of a Receptionist

Yes Yes I know it's been a long hot minute since i've posted up anything. It's not because I've been slacking on the work front! NO NO not at all box fans. I am no re-relocated back to London, where I am desperately trying to sort out my old flat. Floorboards, beading skirting, painting, throwing awaying, oputtin up shelvinging.
So here are some sketches for you people. Just before I left my old job I did a stint as a receptionist, which was basically 2 weeks of nothing...just sitting at reception, sketching, watching Fringe (banging series for those who haven't seen it) and readiing the artsy blogs! Now I haven't done this type of sketching in a while, serious sketching, because I'm dedicating my time to being a 'hip, on the edge of street culture graphic designer/illustrator/creative brain who can use a can of spray paint, mwhahah I know shoreditch like the back of my hand.' But serious sketching, figurative and observational, is important because it helps you understand the simple forms of a figure/ object, and how each individual shape and form of that object balances with the others to produce perfect harmony and beauty within that object. Now from once you understand these simpke rules, you can manipulate successfully and produce whatever style of character, animation and exaggerated form you like. I will put my hands up and say I don't fully understand the anatomy of the female figure, so I'm not the most confident in my feminine characters. also noses, II find noses hards, hands and feet... i prefer hands over feet.
Anyway hope you enjpy. And to all of you , get some sketching done.

JEBA X Joystick Junkies

Here we have it people. Your first chance to sport Jeba's work on your chest! A couple months ago I was commissioned to design a couple of t-shirts for Joystick Junkies 2010 Spring/Summer range(so note, they're not available until then).
Had fun drawing these out, it gave me an excuse to take a break from sketching and play computer games for a bit!

Practice Hours Vol.4

Well I haven't actually painted in a while, so Sunday I thought it was time to get out and have a lil bash. Finishing off dregs of paint is so fun, I always underestimate how far the scrappy contents of a can of paint will go, its amazing!!
Much respect to Snub22 who provided the backdrop many weeks before!!

New Blog Header

So I finally got round to putting a header on the blog. To be honest with you I'm not to big on it and I guess it'll do for now( but really deep down it wont). So as soon as I sort out the stack of jobs I have on (which is a bit of a shallow stack luckily) I will be redesigning this mockery.
That hands definitely going to go, when I first started I thought the hand was a good idea...HA nice thinking Batman!

J- Tek Recordings- Listen/Made In England Cover Art

I just finished the cover art for J-Teks singles Listen and Made In England.
The 2 tracks were apart of a remix competition that was posted on Dogs on Acid. Definitely head over to the site, grab a copy of the singles, some damn good drum n bass on the site.

R.I.P IZ The WIZ
I just found out 1 minute ago that IZ the Wiz died 2 days ago (17th June 2009). For thos weho don't know IZ was 1 of the pioneers of graffiti renouned for just SMASHING NY! He's up there with Seen, Cope, Taki. He died of kidney failure which was brought on over 10 years ago due to painting unprotected/ without a mask.
No doubt Im going to pull out a memorial peice for the man.
In the words of another legend Harold Hunter "Legends never die."
